Addiction comes in many forms; past trauma, traumatic events, abuse.

They make us more likely to have addictive traits and become look to substance and sex to remove us from our pain.

On top of that, addiction is seem as something negative which instils further shame in us.

Something, as LGBTQ+ people, we know all too well.

Instead we need to look at the root cause of our addictions; like trauma, neglect, familial abandonment. 

Understanding where addiction comes from allows us to explore our connection with addiction, and seek support identifying and resolving the root cause of the addiction, than the addiction itself.
