What is Executive Coaching

Executive coaching is a combination of personal and professional development that centers you, your thoughts and behaviours, and how these can be used to your strength within your career.

As queer people, we face unique challenges and experiences that can shape our personal and professional lives. Whether it’s coming out to loved ones, dealing with discrimination and stigma, or simply feeling like you don’t fit in with traditional ideas of success.

Coaching can help you navigate these challenges and tap into your fullest potential.

This article outlines how Executive Coaching can help us elevate our careers, and move into senior leadership positions, while also honouring your authenticity as a queer person.

My journey to Executive Coaching

Coaching changed my life.

I became a coach following my own recovery from burnout, and realising that I needed to stop putting my dreams on ice.

All my energy was spent helping others gain from my efforts.

I had an awakening and realised I am in control of my future.

Although I can’t control all the circumstances of my life, I can control myself, and how I respond to every situation.

I stopped making excuses for why I couldn’t be everything that I wanted to be.

The queer realities

As queer people we have countless pressures and preconceived ideas that are thrust onto us, and whether we like it or not, they have an effect. This can be compounded further when we have other amazing identities that intersect and bring their own challenges for us.

But navigating our values and how we exist within these spaces doesn’t have to mean giving up on professional goals. We are a part of a diverse and expansive intersection of brilliant, shining, , smart, and passionate communities, , and it is our right to have hold of our destinies., and remain true to our authentic selves.

Life can be challenging and stressful, even more so for members of the queer community who often face discrimination, prejudice, and social programming.

It means that we face not only external pressures but internal ones too. Executive coaching can be an invaluable resource for queer professionals, helping us overcome mental barriers, navigate prejudice, and find a personal work-life balance that we’ve defined for ourselves

Is your queer identity second to your career?

As an LGBTQ+ person, do you feel that your identity is something you hide or soften within the workplace?

Or that you suppress your real dreams and aspirations, which align with your authentic self, because societal expectations leave you feeling you should be climbing the corporate ladder?

Whether you’ve struggled with coming out, faced discrimination and rejection, or simply feel that your queer identity doesn’t fit into traditional ideas of success, it’s easy to feel like you have to hide parts of yourself to achieve your goals.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Executive coaching can help you:
1. tap into your full potential – there will be no more hiding from your own greatness.
2. embrace your identity – make peace with yourself so it doesn’t matter when others don’t.
3. pursue your dreams with confidence and clarity – because its often a lonely journey but you can do it!

You don’t have to put your dreams on ice anymore!

Leave the weight of the world at the door, and step into the person you were always meant to be.

How Executive Coaching can help ypu

Embrace your identity

For many queer individuals, coming out and embracing their identity can be a difficult and ongoing process. An executive coach can provide support and guidance as you navigate this journey, helping you build confidence, resilience, and pride in your identity.

leave the weight of the world at the door, and step into the person you were always meant to be.

Build strong relationships

Build stronger, more fulfilling relationships with loved ones and colleagues, whether you’re seeking to deepen existing connections or create new ones. You are magnetic in your own way. Give yourself permission to show that.

Pursue your goals

Whatever your professional or personal aspirations may be, a coach can help you identify and pursue them with clarity and confidence. They can help you develop a plan of action, stay accountable, and overcome obstacles along the way. Change is hard and having someone in your corner who can help you stay true to yourself is invaluable.

Develop resilience

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, you’ve likely faced unique challenges and setbacks. Build your resilience, tap into your inner strength, and overcome obstacles with grace and determination with the help of a coach who gets you.

No more closeted dreams

At the heart of coaching is the idea that you don’t have to hide parts of yourself to achieve your goals. In fact, embracing your queer identity can be a powerful source of strength and resilience as you pursue your dreams. Whether you’re seeking personal or professional success, coaching can provide the support, guidance, and resources you need to tap into your full potential.

If you’ve been holding back on pursuing your dreams out of fear, shame, or uncertainty, it’s time to take the leap. With the help of a queer coach, you can unlock your full potential, embrace your identity, and pursue the life you’ve always dreamed of.

No more closeted dreams – it’s time to live boldly and bravely as your authentic self.

Coaching to navigate prejudice

Unfortunately, prejudice and discrimination are still a reality for many members of the queer community, both in and outside of the workplace. Executive coaching can be an invaluable resource for queer professionals, providing them with a space to find their own skills and strategies needed to navigate these challenging situations.

One of the key benefits of executive coaching is that it helps individuals develop resilience in the face of adversity. By working with a coach, queer professionals can learn how to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, build their confidence, and develop coping strategies for dealing with prejudice and discrimination.

Executive coaching can also provide queer professionals with the tools they need to communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors. This can be particularly important in situations where individuals may need to advocate for themselves or educate others about the challenges they face as members of the queer community.

How Executive Coaching relates to you

There is a misconception that coaching is only for extremely successful individuals who are already in senior leadership roles. Wrong. It’s that successful people see the value in knowing themselves better and having a space to explore the challenges they face. They know there is room for growth and don’t shy away from looking for that.

It can be difficult for some of us queers to do that self-exploration because we’ve had to fight to explain that we are enough. You are enough! Coaching has nothing to do with being enough. It’s about loving yourself enough to go for everything you want with everything you’ve got. It’s knowing that you are capable of anything and fighting to get there.
